Yosemite Falls Hike to the Top in an Empty Park

Jul 4, 2020 | NPS, Travel

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Yosemite falls hike to the top is a challenging 3.5 mile trek straight up. It’s a popular hike in the park with several amazing views of the valley and the falls. It’s a tough one, probably a bucket list hike for many, plus you get to say you’ve hiked to the top of the tallest waterfall in North America. If you’re feeling up for it, add an extra 1.5 miles to get to Yosemite Point for great views of the valley.

Depending on the time of year and water levels, there can be several safe places to jump in to cool off from the summer heat. The water is ice cold from snow melt and can be very dangerous, be smart about where you jump in. In June of 2020 we practically had the park to ourselves. A once in a lifetime experience. It’s an out and back hike with so many switch backs and it’s pretty steep in sections.

Columbia Rock is a nice place to take a break and take in the view of the valley and half dome. Congratulate yourself, you’ve climbed around 1060ft in less than a mile from the trail head.
