Mt Wilson Hike From Chantry Flats – 6-pack of peaks

Jun 13, 2020 | hiking, Out in LA

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mt. Wilson peak isn’t the tallest in Southern California at only 5,712 feet, but it is a beautiful hike with waterfalls and shade on most of the trail. You can actually drive to the peak, but where is the fun in that? 😅

We did the popular route from Chantry Flats and even though we arrived before 7am, we still had to park about a mile down the road from the trail head. It’s popular hike year round.

his is a tough 15-17 mile hike with about 4,500 feet of elevation gain and an average moving time of 7 hours. We did a little extra credit hike to Sturtevant falls at the start of the day, and at the summit, we were lucky enough to go inside one of the telescopes (Hooker 100) and tour the self- guided museum.

This hike is the first on the Six-Pack Peak Challenge that many people talk about. More info is below if you’re interested. https://sixpackofpeaks.com/socal/
